Mozilla Firefox is an open source browser which can be customized with a wide variety of plug-ins. The Firefox browser is a prerequisite for several of the recommended plug-ins for web archiving.
The application is free, and the download site automatically offers the relevant version for the computer accessing it. Language versions can be chosen at the bottom of the download page.
Firefox has a powerful built-in screenshot function. When on a web page, right click (CTRL + click in MAC) and select “Take a screenshot”. You can now select areas, or use the top right screenshot menu to select the entire page. After selecting a download option for your screenshot will appear in the top right screenshot menu.
NB! For research and archiving purposes the top menu line in Firefox should be made visible. To do this, right-click on the top bar and mark “Menu”. A quick tutorial can be found at NetLab’s page.
