With a focus on visuality Aalborg University welcomes all who take an interest in discussing and exploring:

  • Video/visuals in research
  • Video/visuals for education
  • Video/visuals and the analysis of complex and multimodal interaction
  • Video/visual and the handling of complex data

The topics of the conference aim to be of relevance to researchers and practitioners working with video and visual media with an overall aim to reflect on different approaches to working with visual material in teaching and research and provide a forum to explore the perspectives on context, design, methods and analysis.

On June 16th the university will host a pre-conference workshop for PhD students and interested researchers

More specifically the course will examine the following areas:

  • – Video data and analyse the lower-level, higher-level and frozen actions that participants perform.
  • – Using the site of engagement (Scollon, 1998) as analytical tool, the actions are then further analysed as linked to practices.
  • – The term practice is here used in Scollon’s (2001) sense and is defined as an action with a history.

The workshop will be lead by professor Sigrid Norris and  will be supported through resources provided through DIGHUMLAB.
